A bathroom is the smallest room in the house and the one most likely to be built wrong. Everything in it is a water-management problem, and in Florida's humidity the consequences of a shortcut do not stay hidden for long — they show up as loose tile, black grout lines, soft subfloor, and eventually a wall that has to come apart again.
LRG Contractors Group builds bathrooms waterproof-first. The shower pan gets flood-tested and inspected before a single tile goes on. The moisture barrier is continuous, not patched. Niches and benches get detailed as waterproofing details rather than decorative afterthoughts.
We handle the whole project as one contract: layout, demolition, plumbing and electrical rework, waterproofing, tile, glass, vanities, and finish. One team, one schedule, one person accountable for whether it stays dry.

- 60 min
Free in-home consultation
We look at the existing plumbing, the subfloor, and the ventilation — the three things that decide what your bathroom can become.
- 1–2 weeks
Design & fixed proposal
Layout, tile and fixture direction, and an itemized fixed-scope proposal.
- 2–3 weeks
Selections & permitting
Tile, glass, vanity, and fixtures locked while the permit is submitted.
- 1 week
Demo & rough-in
Gut to studs, plumbing and electrical rework, inspected before anything closes.
- 2–3 days
Waterproofing & flood test
Pan built, moisture barrier applied, flood-tested and inspected. Nothing gets tiled until this passes.
- 2–3 weeks
Tile, glass & finish
Tile, grout, vanity, fixtures, then glass templated to the finished opening.
Timeline
Most Tampa Bay bathroom remodels run 3–6 weeks on site. Frameless glass is templated after tile is finished and typically adds 1–2 weeks at the end — that wait is normal and it is what makes the glass fit.
Permits & Florida code
Bathroom remodels in Tampa Bay pull plumbing and electrical permits whenever fixtures move or circuits change. The line item Florida takes most seriously is waterproofing: the Florida Building Code requires an inspected shower pan and a continuous moisture barrier in wet areas, and a failed pan test means the tile comes back off. We build to pan-test-first, handle every inspection, and close the permit.
The decisions that move your number
The four things worth thinking about before you get quotes.
Keep the fixtures where they are, if you can
Moving a toilet or shower drain means opening the slab or the subfloor. Sometimes it is worth it. It is never cheap, and it should be decided at design.
Tub or no tub?
Resale logic says keep at least one tub in the house. Beyond that, converting a rarely-used tub to a proper walk-in shower is one of the highest-satisfaction changes we do.
Ventilation is not optional
Florida humidity plus an undersized or unducted fan is how bathrooms grow mold. Correct CFM ducted to the exterior is a code requirement and a longevity issue.
Curbless costs more for a reason
A curbless entry requires the subfloor to be recessed and the waterproofing detailed differently. It is beautiful and it is aging-in-place smart — it is also real structural work.
How we work
Not claims about how good we are — commitments about how the project runs.
Design–build under one contract
The team that designs your kitchen or bath is the team that builds it. One contract, one schedule, one person accountable — no handoff gap between designer and contractor.
Fixed scope, itemized proposal
Every line is visible before you sign — cabinetry, counters, labor, permits, contingency. Change-order pricing is agreed in writing before any extra work proceeds.
Permits pulled and closed
We handle permitting end to end across all five counties — Hillsborough, Pinellas, Pasco, Manatee, and Sarasota — schedule every inspection, and close the permit out. You never deal with the county counter.
Waterproofing flood-tested before tile
Every shower pan we build is flood-tested and inspected before a single tile goes on. It is the cheapest line to cut and the most expensive one to redo.
Built to the Florida Building Code
GFCI and AFCI protection, dedicated circuits, code ventilation, engineered headers, and inspected moisture barriers — the requirements that actually matter in Florida humidity.
Kitchens and baths only
We do not take on roofing, additions, or general handyman work. Two rooms, done to a standard that only comes from specialising.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does a bathroom remodel cost in Tampa Bay?
Most Tampa Bay bathroom remodels run $12,000 to $35,000, with the majority of full remodels landing between $15,000 and $28,000. Primary suites with layout changes run $28,000 to $75,000 and up. These are market ranges — we quote fixed scope after a free in-home visit.
How long does a bathroom remodel take?
Typically 3–6 weeks on site. Frameless glass is templated only after tile is complete, which adds 1–2 weeks at the end — that gap is what makes the glass actually fit.
Do I need a permit for a bathroom remodel in Florida?
Yes, whenever plumbing fixtures move or electrical changes. Florida also requires an inspected shower pan and moisture barrier in wet areas. We pull and close every permit.
What causes bathroom remodels to fail?
Waterproofing, nearly every time. A pan that was never flood-tested, a moisture barrier with gaps, or a niche detailed as decoration rather than as a waterproofing detail. It looks perfect for a year and then the grout goes dark.
Can I use my bathroom during the remodel?
Not the one being remodeled. If it is your only full bath, we sequence the work to minimize the days without a working shower and tell you exactly which days those are before we start.
What areas do you serve?
The full Tampa Bay to Sarasota corridor — Hillsborough, Pinellas, Pasco, Manatee, and Sarasota counties, including Tampa, St. Petersburg, Brandon, Riverview, Apollo Beach, Sun City Center, Bradenton, Lakewood Ranch, Sarasota, and Venice.
